Shooting split shots of icebergs with a custom housing rig
Photographer Steve Mandel used a custom rig for his Canon 5D Mark III to shoot split shots of icebergs during a recent trip to Antarctica. The housing sat at an angle on a bracket at the end of a 7-foot long pole while resting upon custom legs on the side of the zodiac. He used the CamRanger app to control the camera with an iPad mini.
Video: Argonaut aggregation near the surface
Earth Touch News has shared an incredibly rare video of an aggregation of female argonauts, also known as paper nautilus, close to the surface on their Wild Ocean channel. These creatures appear to be very similar to chambered nautilus, but in fact more closely resemble bottom dwelling octopus. Encounters with these animals are very uncommon, and to see a grouping like this is spectacular. (Image from Shutterstock)
