Olympus announces OM-D E-M1 Mark II
Olympus has announced details of their OM-D E-M1 Mark II mirrorless camera. It features a 20.4 MP sensor with 121 on chip phase and contrast AF sensors. Image processing is via a new TruePic VIII Image Processor and its native ISO range is up to 6400. It has 5 axis image stabilization in both still and video modes, with the latter being available at full 4K resolution at 24p. Olympus will offer a housing for the camera too.
Using exploding jellyfish populations to make biodegradable diapers
Overfishing of commercial fish stocks and removal of top predators worldwide have caused the populations of jellyfish worldwide to skyrocket. Jellyfish blooms can be problematic for a number of reasons including clogging intake valves and taking over swimming areas. Scientists believe we will see jellyfish blooms more and more in coming years. Now one startup has come up with a product to make use of the overabundant jellies, diapers.
Inon announces mount base for Sony Action Cam
Inon has announced its UWH1 SD Mount base for use with the Sony 4K FDR-X3000 action camera in its MPK-UWH1 housing. This allows the use of Inon’s SD Semi Fisheye Conversion (UFL-G140) and SD Wide Close-up (UCL-G165) lenses with the camera. The base is supplied with an SD Mount Base that allows arms, handles and tripods to be attached.

Nauticam ships housing for EOS 5D Mark IV
Nauticam are shipping their housing for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. The NA-5DMKIV features a new button for access to the focus area settings, a window for viewing the card access LED, a button to enable the optional Nauticam TTL Flash trigger.

Leonardo DiCaprio, in conjunction with National Geographic, has released a film entitled “Before the Flood”. The film outlines the challenges facing environmentalists, the planet and all of us in terms of climate change. During the film, he investigates possible solutions to what the film portrays as an impending crisis.
World’s Largest MPA for Ross Sea
New Scientist reports that from December 2017, Antartica’s Ross Sea will be the site of the world’s largest Marine Protected Area (MPA). 1.55 million square kilometers (59845 square miles) of the sea will become a “no take zone” protecting Adelie penguins, Antarctic petrels, Weddell seals, toothfish and minke whales as well as the krill that visiting animals feed on.
