Established in 1994, Backscatter has become the premier underwater imaging center on the west coast and the world wide web. We sell all makes of underwater photo and video equipment (new and used) and feature professional level rental support. Our service center functions as the west coast Warranty Service Center for all major brands. In addition to retail sales we distribute Hartenberger lighting and Top Dawg video products to other diving retailers. Our travel schedule includes over 90 days of seminars and photo safaris annually.
We are located on historic Cannery Row in Monterey, California only a few paces from the water. Our weekends are spent mostly with walk-in customers and our weekday efforts are focused on phone and email customers. While our walk-in business is slightly seasonal, our internet and phone sales remain fast paced throughout the year. The primary function of a Backscatter salesperson is to offer the most accurate and professional advice to clients and provide the absolute best customer service in the industry.
Employees are highly encouraged to make use of the rental / demo equipment and are required to expand their personal imaging skills. A small dive locker is available for employee use on site. We also encourage and supplement funding for outside training such as photography, printmaking, video production, photoshop, and all forms of web development.
