Retra has released a third generation Light Shaping Device (LSD) and announced that it is now available in three different models. The LSD contains three elements; a light collector that gathers the light onto a small circular matted area, a kind of aperture, not meant for determining brightness, but the shape of the projected light spot and a lens that projects the light spot at a distance.
The three new versions are basic, pro, exclusive, are available now and start at €499.00.
I have been using an LSD a bit over the past few months, and find that it gives a unique lighting effect, especially on wide-angle images.
Retra UWT is presenting a third generation LSD which is now available in three kits (basic, pro, exclusive) starting from 499,00€.
The new devices feature a completely redesigned optical system with newly patented optical elements improving the contrast of outgoing light. Assembly of the LSD exclusive is now done in a controlled environment in a Argon gas atmosphere.
The core of our production is still a high quality aluminium housing which is hard anodized and mechanically strengthened. The housing has been optimized to weigh under 600g.
The magnetic dock is now even more powerful and can hold up to 2kg. Safety features have been added for the masks and the LSD to reduce the possibility of losing them.
Our flash database now consists of all popular strobes used in UW photography.
The web page has undergone a complete transformation and features a new shop where you can safely purchase the LSD and accessories.
In addition to that we have made two new videos titled: “At home” and “How it’s made.”
