It was reported 3 hours ago that, after months of increase seismic activity, Bali’s Mount Agung has erupted. Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency said the eruption remained small so far but the volcano was emitting a thick grey ash cloud blowing to the East and South-East. Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport remains open and alert levels have not been changed.

Update on diving Bali during Mount Agung evacuations

Underwater Tribe, based in Bali, has provided an update on the situation in Bali relating to evacuations surrounding Mount Agung and diving in the Tulamben area. Diving in the Tulamben area is currently closed. However, other areas of Bali are open for diving and Underwater Tribe says, “At this point in time there is no reason not to travel to Bali.” It is impossible to tell how air travel will be affected if and when and eruption occurs.

Bali is set to ban all plastic bags on the island by 2018, and it is all thanks to teenage sisters, Melati and Isabel Wijsen. The sisters were inspired by learning about great leaders who made a difference in the world. They brainstormed and came up with a plan to ban plastic bags, and the resulting ocean litter, in Bali.
