The REEL Story: Seafood traceability program in Washington D.C.

REEL Story QR codes

Washington D.C. based Black Restaurant Group and the Congressional Seafood Co. last week launched The REEL Story, a seafood traceability program. The concept is simple: each menu item is associated with a QR code that lists a complete history of your dinner, from information on where and how it was harvested, to recipe ideas and cooking methods.

Jonathan Pearlman, of Congressional Seafood Co., admits that the concept was inspired by a sketch on the show Portlandia, where the characters get an intimate look at their dinner.

The program debuted last week at all D.C. based Black Restaurant Group restaurants and will expand to more than 250 hotels and restaurants that Congressional Seafood Co. supplies.
