Join Wetpixel and photographers Eric Cheng and Dr. Alexander Mustard on an expedition aboard the M/V Solmar V to the Revillagigedos Islands (also known as the Socorro Islands), 250 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, from February 2-10, 2008.

On a single exploratory trip in December of 2006, we had hours in the water with multiple manta rays, who repeatedly approached within touching distance to play in our bubbles. The manta rays are there to be cleaned by clarion angelfish, and are what the islands are best known for. We also had underwater encounters with schools of tuna and jacks, whale sharks, white-tip reef sharks, friendly groupers, and much more. The underwater topography of the Revillagigedos Islands is an incredible site to behold… ( continue for full details: http://wetpixel.com/i.php/socorro )

Awesome! We'll have to take a celebratory photo of you being mugged by mantas.

May I also do a little shameless  promotion of the Solmar V's shiney new web site at www.SolmarV.com? Check out the virtual tour too! I've been to Revillagigedos three times and am going back next month. Definitely world-class diving everybody should have the chance to do at least once in their lifetime. Diving with giant mantas is magical!

There are only 5 spots left, so book quickly if you're interested. The expedition goes live on the front page in a few hours!

On a single exploratory trip in December of 2006,

Eric, we have been diving the Socorro, San Benidicto and Roca for decades, no real exploration is left at those islands. Did your 2006 trip explore Clarion or possibly blue water diving? Please share what the exploratory imperative targeted. I am enthused that something new may have been discovered at Revillagigedos :) It's always been a wonderful trip, and very productive photographically, but new sites and experiences could only enhance that ;)

Iggy -

Apologies! I mean "exploratory", as in my own exploration of the islands. It was my first time there. ;)

Someone on Wetpixel just went to Clarion recently. I don't remember who, though -- was it Mary Lynn Price?

Make that two spots still free. Note that the trip does not include airfare to San Cabo / Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

I am not seeing a Paypal link to send the deposit.
I love it when a plan comes together.

The link for the paypal deposit page is in the booking form you get when you express interest.

The trip is full now, assuming everyone pays. But many folks haven't turned in deposits yet, so get on the waiting list, if you're interested!
