Premeeting Seminar (7:15PM-8PM): Image Sharing and Critique
Bring 1-3 jpeg images you would like to share and have critiqued. Images should be turned in at 7pm so the image sharing and critique can begin at 7:10pm. Let's all learn something from each other at this pre-meeting seminar.

FEATURED PRESENTER (8PM – 9:15PM): Jay Ireland Presents – Cocos Island and California’s Elkhorn Slough

Jay's innate understanding of animal behavior is a key ingredient for the success of both Bradley Ireland Productions and The Imaging Foundation. Jay's quest, to get close enough to capture the ultimate stingray image, launched Stingray City. The 1986 National Geographic story promoted friendly rays and the Wall Street Journal called Stingray City the most successful underwater attraction in the world.

Logging over 2,000 dives at Cocos Island alone, Jay's photos of shark finning were used to initiate a successful campaign to protect Cocos. Later, his experience and his images were incorporated into the petition, which won the Island its UNESCO World Heritage status.

Ireland's images have appeared on countless magazine covers worldwide, calendars postage stamps and lottery tickets. Jay's work with Paramount Productions won Wild Things the top rating in sweeps week. His work documenting the Humboldt Squid was showcased on National Geographic's Squid Invasion.

He is a driving force behind the Imaging Foundation, and uses the power of video and production to teach about the ocean.

:( FEATURED PRESENTER (8PM – 9:15PM): Jay Ireland CANCELLED

REPLACEMENT FEATURED PRESENTATION (8PM – 9:15PM):

Analyzing Presentation Styles and Techniques: Video only, Still only, Combining Video and Still, and Time Lapse photography.

Jay Ireland is stuck on assignment and won't be able to join us as planned. So we are going with our backup plan for the main presentation. We will be comparing and contrasting various methods of presenting videos and images.

First we will show a very short video shot by the original founders of our club from approximately 40 years ago. Then we will show several self running presentations each about 3-5 minutes long including Brad Brown's time lapse photography. For the other styles, we have videos that various members have given us for past DEMA shows. If you have a 3-5 minute presentation you would like to include, please bring it to the meeting at 7pm and give it to Robbie or Susan. The idea is your presentation will be shown and then will open discussion to compare and contrast the various presentation styles of video only, stills only, video and stills together and time lapse photography.
