In Topic: More WB problems for the HC1

Maybe this might be of help to some. Here's a screenshot of video I recently shoot with a Sony HDR-HC1. This shot is filter, no lights around 50 feet depth.

So with the HC1 using a pair of HID lights, any guess as to how noticable the differences between auto WB and manual WB?
With HID lights, even below 30 feet, is there enough color loss to offset the white balance algorthms?
I just got my Bluefin housing for the HC1 today. Will be diving in 2 weeks in Komodo (Indonesia).
Thanks
Dave

Could anyone comment on the white balance differences with the Sony HC1 using manual WB versus the built in auto white balance?
I just got my HC1 today, still waiting for my :&M bluefin housing.

In Topic: What type/brand miniDV tapes are you using?

Regarding tape head cleaning, from my VHS days, I seem to recall that using a brand new tape and playing only the new (blank) section of the tape was suppose to help clean the heads.
Is this folklore or truth?
Interesting that HD tape is metal tape and they all come from the same reel.
I just received the Sony HDR-HC1. Still waiting on the Bluefin housing.

Has anyone used the Light and Motion Bluefin housing with the Sony HDR-HC1?
Any info, good, bad, ugly would be appreciated!
