I took these pictures in Chichiriviche de la costa, Venezuela.

Thank you very much for your opinions and advice.

Hi mechonx

Tricky subjects so you did well. Nice job.

A couple of suggestions for a little post-shooting which might make them even better.

The shot of the banded coral shrimp: the squirrelfish in the bottom of the image is quite distracting. I'd suggest a re-crop to cut them out; and then crop the photo right down so that it covers from the tip of the longest feeler of the shrimp up to the top of the pic. The shrimp well then pretty much fill the space and the eye (which is nice and sharp!) will sit pretty well in where a "line of thirds" intersects.

On the Pedersen cleaner shrimp:  I'd re-orientate to a vertical and then crop down what is currently the right hand-side of the shrimp and below the shrimp. Again, this will give you a tighter image with less distraction and more impact.

Just a thought! Like I say though, well done! Not easy things to get good pics

A very quick re-do as suggested: looking at it again, the banded coral shrimp needs yet more cropping of the right hand side.....

One other thought: I found it made a big difference to the impact of my pics when I discovered shooting images against "neutral space". This eliminates a lot of the distracting background and gives the image real pop.

The shot you have of the Pedersen shows him/her about to swim on to that red coral. If you had been able to isolate the shrimp against the red coral, you'd have had a cracking background. Blue shrimp, red background, big impact.

Hope these thoughts/ideas help a bit.

Wow TimG thank you very much for your suggestions and time.

I will take your advice and will crop it.

the difference is noticed and to me it also seemed that had many distracting elements, now I see it more clearly.

thank you again.
