Best value backpack roller as carry on luggage?

They both offer hybrid solutions but the think tank is vastly more expensive in the UK.
Has anyone had experience with hybrid bags and whether they're worth it? There are times I'm travelling and I want a roller, but when you get on and off boats for transit and shorter distances I want the flexibility, as rolling isn't an option in those circumstances

I purchased one of these off Amazon this year for a trip, it's backpack only and after carrying between numerous connection flights/gates etc I too wish I had gone for the wheeled version. I was fixating on the reduced cabin requirements for Cebu Air and glad I did, the overhead bins were tiny! Anyway, I'd recommend the bag and would get the wheeled version if I travel again..
I managed to squeeze in my Olympus housing, two bodies, two ports, three lenses, documents, netbook and sweets. The camera stuff was in three of these padded bags..

Seems to me getting a camera bag is like the Quest for the Holy Grail. We should run a poll to see how many we have all gone through/own/have sold/have given up on.....
Big backpacks are fine for lugging gear but they sure get heavy - and a combination roller/backpack seems, to me, to be the way to go. But then two issues: yep, they are REALLY expensive; and they are heavy. The TT ones empty weigh almost as much as Pelican case (I've just been comparing them having lugged gear around Myanmar last month).
I guess it depends on where you are going; what you are doing; who you are flying with; what class of travel; liveaboard, day boat, shore diving; boat to hotel transits..... blah, blah, blah.
So you need several. Or a hybrid. Or a porter.
Like I say, Quest for The Holy Grail.
Those TT bags sure look nice though

Is that something we can do? Most UW photographers with DSLR have:
carry on stuff (headphones, ebooks, chargers)
Seems the usecase for most is very similar, e.g. hybrid or roller only to save on space/weight...?
Unfortunately, looking at on land photography, the choices are much simpler as most would actually serve the purpose. But going UW means you have the insane bulk of the camera housing, the dome/ports and strobes
