EDIUS have out version 4.60 now and it's free to anyone who is using EDIUS.
Go to the Grass Valley website and you can download it.

Once loaded up I tried out some rendering with my overclocked 2.4Ghz Core2Quad running at 3.2 Ghz.

With 1 minute of mutliple HDV Canopus HQ clips on the timeline with effects it rendered out a 1 minute m2t file in just 60 seconds and then it rendered out a DVD MPEG2 spec file with AC3 audio in just 30 seconds. :)

From a 1 minute DV 16.9 timeline it rendered out a DVD MPEG2 spec file with AC3 audio in just 15 seconds.

When rendering out the files EDIUS maxed out the 3.2 Ghz QUAD at 100% and used all 4 cores. :)

I also loaded up Photoshop CS3 and it opens in like 2 seconds and a 70 meg A4 300dpi multi layered brochure took about 2 more seconds to open in it.

Jonny it's really because he's in Exmouth again and has nothing else better to do than time his processes. :)
