Hi there - no setup for me yet, as Im trying to establish what I want. Is there a really big difference in weight and bulk using a mirrorless set up, such as Sony a6500 and a full frame DSLR? I understand housing differences, but in GENERAL, is it a big difference to manage? Thanks

Yes, huge difference, depending on setup. I generally tell people today if you don't know you want an SLR, go mirrorless.

Difference out of the water is substantial with regards to body weight, but good quality lenses usually have similar weight, thus decreasing the weight differential for a full set up.

As pointed out in other posts, difference below water is significant.
