My GH5 will be with me on Weds, (couldn't refuse at the moment with the Euro being strong against the £ and Panasonic UK doing a £100 trade in offer. I got the body for 1495€ delivered ) alas with that and the CYAN Leds. I'm spent. So the NA-GH5 will have to wait a couple of months.

What a nice price!!. Can you share with us where you bought it?

I ordered it from CVP.com - http://cvp.com/index...asonic_gh5_body

Base price before tax is £1415.83, take off another £83.33 for the trade in (body only), another £10 with their '10off' coupon on first orders and it was around £15 delivery to Gibraltar, add to that on the day the euro was at 1.115 to £1.

Apart from the 60fps 422 10bit, makes external recorders like my Inferno, completely redundant.

Good play Panasonic, impressed.

I have big hopes for the AF upgrade.  Particularly with bad visibility / many particles underwater focusing the GH5 is a real challenge, and I don't not have focus gear for some lenses to focus manually...

The all-Intra truly sounds amazing. I am also thinking about playing with anamorphic overland.

I'm reading on other forums people writing that 400mb intra codec is just a gimmick actually useless and othet ranting.
Obviously people have different needs and perfect video camera doesn't exist but the fact remains that at that price point you get the best market features/price ratio.

Probably it was the same for previous GH models but they struggled a lot breaking market lock-in.

Do you mean with macro?

Also wide angle I had plenty issues. In Autofocus GH5 is hunting all over the place. In MF you need to keep pushing back button AF frequently - sometimes just not fast enough for the action. Visibility was just too bad to keep the lens wide open.

Still on a steep learning curve on this one. Handling the AX100 was easier for me... I may be able to squeeze in a week in October in Maldives to try some more. Fiji was not the greatest place tbh and mostly nasty conditions.

I read that All Intra is not adding much in terms of Picture quality , just making it easier for comps to process, Not sure I really believe this. Lets see once its out.

As discussed dozen of times continuos AF underwater is really like a Unicorn. Everybody talk about it but nobody saw it. Maybe DPAF will change things but a video camera with a decent sensor size and a reliable AF simply does not exist.
Actually for WA shots I don't see the problem in 99% of use cases:

#1 stay hyperfocal.
#2 use AFL button
#3 use center point focus and avoid multipoint focus

I never missed a shot except when I crashed my dome on a coral getting a huge scratch on it.

here is a link to some of the video with the GH5

I like your colors on the reef shots. Was that achieved by setting the kelvin internally or did u white balance off something, i.e. a coral. Also to everyone, do I white balance off a coral or whatever with your lights illuminating the subject?

I mostly white balance off sand. I was amazed how the GH5 MWB at depth without lights and a red filter. If im doing close up work not macro then I will MWB with my lights on  off sand

I'd love to hear from more people who have used the gh4, to compare the white balancing to the gh5. Big enough of an improvement for an upgrade?

I don't use one. The gh5 white balance without filter even at depth

I agree from my trials with the GH5 that manual WB works really well when shooting ambient light. Clips to follow....

Does anyone know if the GX85 accurately white balances at depth or if it requires a red filter to do so?
