Congratulations to all the winner! NCUPS is a tough competition, so you've earned some praise!
Thanks Jim, and Mr Mintz up there also. I have always enjoyed both your images a great deal; especially the ones I was priveleged enough to see at the Smithsonian this summer (think I went 6 times in the end).
I've been a frequent reader here on wetpixel, and was hoping my first post would be in the criticism section when I finally got my photo's up on Flickr but it mind as well be here!
I just can't wait until I actually get to see which images of mine they liked! (and to see if that is indeed a typo on my name) Though I realize the Novice category isn't nearly as competitive as the Open category I was happy to do well in my first contest.

Novice could be even more competitive for all you know so do not discount your placing. It is a great accomplishment. Where in Alberta are you? I am next door in SK.
Thank you also for the compliment. Glad to hear you got to see the exhibit. I was not able to get down to see it this time but had some friends see it.
Congrats again,
Cheers

I am in Edmonton; always nice to see another Canadian from a landlocked province who enjoys underwaterphotography.
Cheers,
Stephen

The winning images are now displayed on the NCUPS website http://www.ncups.org.
Again this year, the competition was very tough and the judges had their work cut out for them in picking the winners. The judges this year were Jason Bradley, Steve Rosenberg and Bruce Finocchio. Judging comments will be made available on the SEA 2008 page as soon as I write them up. But I will say that due to the high quality of images in the competition often it came down to the smallest detail in determining the winner over the places.
All entrants should be proud of their work!
Best regards,
Kathy Mendes
