I am having difficulty getting my flash to sync with my Olympus Om-d mark 2 camera. Any suggestions?
Which OMD do you have, 10, 5, or 1? Does it have an electronic flash built-in or as a separate unit for the hot-shoe?

I guess it is a fire wire

5. It has a hot shoe and I have small flash attached there. I guess it is a fire wire
Fire wire? You mean the cable to the strobe? If it plugs into the front of the housing, it is optical. Does your camera's small attached flash fire when you take a picture?
What kind of strobe is it?

U need the flash of your camera to fire then the fiber optic cable can carry that light to your strobe to 'fire' the strobe
No the flash is not firing. Yes it must be an optical cable

If the flash works on the camera, but is not firing the strobe at all then you have a problem with the fibre optic cable by the sounds of it.
If the flash is working and the strobe is firing but not lighting the picture you have to alter the settings.

It is possible that the small flash on the camera is not in the raised position inside the housing.
Take the camera out of the housing and see if the flash fires. If not make sure it is raised up and try it again.
A problem many of us have had (or maybe just me) in the water with the flash down.
Canon 7d, Nauticam, Lots of glass, Olympus OMD-EM5, Nauticam, 60 macro, 45 macro, 8 mm fisheye, Inon, S&S, Athena Strobes plus lots of fiddly bits.

From memory on the EM1, I suspect the 5 is the same, you can switch the flash off even though the flash is in the upright position.
Check your flash settings on the camera.

yes, check if flash is activated.
And not to the anti red eye mode.
Best is the fat white flash sybol.
And the flash has to be poped up.
Try that outside the housing. If it works, inside.
Then you should be able to see the flash throught the sync cord plug.
If the ys D2 is still not firing, have a look for either the original Nauticam or the original Sea & Sea sync cable.
Second should be the newer version with the black plugs.
The D2 is not really sensitiv, so it needs a lot of light to ignite.
