I sent in a photo just to see if I could get a response. To my delight, Dive Global was doing a Destination of the Month on the Philippines. I was asked to write (NOT a writer) an article and submit some photos. They were either rearranged or flipped giving a different perspective. Oh well! Its a great place to dive if nothing else!

The first option also diplays the Picture of the Month. It was the original image that started it all.

Good show, aside from shooting photographs, writing about it is what I enjoy the most, I understand your pleasure. don't put down the pen so quick! much easier selling images with text as a package. there is a lot of good shooter out there but no way is there the same amount of writer, so OK maybe your no Shakespeare but at least you write and that's an edge.

IMHO, the Philippines is one of the most under rated, unappreciated dive destinations around....then again, it keeps the prices low.

Yes I have been there diving on several occasions. As long as the dynamite fisherman don't get to you. I have a really awesome UW Video, and half way through you can hear an explosion and everyone looks around to see whos tank exploded. Crazy stuff!

I was born there, been going there every year to dive and take pics...much less dynamite fishing than a few years ago. When I did my first dive there in 97-98, some reefs were dead, now they're covered in soft coral with tons of fish. Great tribute to the local communities and their conservancy efforts

Stu, I suppose you are talking about Anilao? That is a special place and now there's even groupers! Thanks to WWF and other groups and the locals (depending on who you ask, many of them insist they played a part LOL)
Unfortunately, many other places in the PI are going backwards. In the Visayan sea, the best dive sites are being bombed or fished out, despite the locals charging reef fees. Look at Malapascua. Bombs were going off 2 miles away and it was plenty loud. Of course there are nice areas but the pelagic side is very thin now thanks to overfishing. But a place like Anilao does bring hope. But let's hope they don't go the way of Donsol and the Butanding sighting.

Anilao and Puerto Galera are in Very good shape, Tubbataha is simply magical. I've hear conflicting reports about Malapascua. I haven't done much of the Visayas but I hear Leyte is in Pristine shape.
