I would have picked Alex's shot and the one with the sunburst over the first and second prize winners. Getting two lined up like first prize winner is great but to me it looks so obvious that the poor critters were really bothered by the camera that it made the photo not very pleasing.

I also know the grand prize winner. I used to work with him in Palau, these days he is the photo pro on the Mike Ball boat in PNG or one of the ones in Cairns...

... it's a shame how the results came out in this competition ... i dont like seeing the same style photos i have seen before wining competitions .. get some new judges. Not saying Alex's should have won ... but boring selection in general. (maybe i am just jealous i dont get to see too many seahorses)

Despite this news coming in rather a good week for me, with much more important wins, I am actually very chuffed. I reckon it is a pretty good effort to have the best pink H. bargibanti image in a competition like this. There must have been a lot of pink bargibantis in the mix.
I really like Dave's shot.
