It is interesting to see a cleaner shrimp shot take first place in the action category of "Visions of Science 2005""
There's some really cool stuff in there as well.

Jim Greenfield, who took the winning shot, has been taking underwater photos for a long time. He is an ardent UK diver too, and a conservationist. Congratulations are most certainly in order.
He's still a film man so I doubt that he'll see this but I'll email him with the link.

It is nice to see that not all winning shots were done with super-expensive apparatus such as an electron microscope (some were - see close up category - these are cool nevertheless!).

Thanks for your congratulations. Paul Kay tipped me off this had been mentioned otherwise I wouldn't have seen this thread. I also got a second in 2003 with a shot in the North Sea and in 2004 with one from Curacao.
Although still on film, I follow Wetpixel pretty closely as I am forever on the brink of making a switch to digital. Just need to steel myself for a major spend!

Tom: I would guess that the SEM in our lab (we bought it at auction for $7000 in 1994 and it is still running) costs less than all of our dive stuff if we add it together.
