After 10 years of service my much loved 21" Sony Trinitron is looking a bit soft ... so I need to replace it

Trouble is being happy with it I haven't lusted after anything else .... so what should I be looking at???

Working with aerial & satellite imagery at work I have been very unimpressed with the colour resolution of LCDs I had to evaluate.

Advice please!!!

Am interested in reading people's recomendations. Every time I look at monitors I am allways disapointed at the options.

I love the pixel density and resolution of my 1600x1200 15" laptop. To me the number of pixels is much more important than the size of the display. In order to get 1600x1200 in a desktop monitor you have to move up to a 21" display? Why does no one take the same LCD that they put in laptops, attach a cord and stand and sell it as a stand alone monitor?

We have a lot of different LCD displays here at work, and I had the chance to look at many over time. I found the best color here:

The 23'' version (1920x1200 pixels) is especially nice.

Now, if you really want the best I would look at this one:

Awesome color with expanded color space that supports Adobe RGB. But it costs around 6k!

I looked at the eizo ... pretty sweet Its a shame they don't have better resolution in the 210 ... just blew my pocket money on the D2X though :>

In terms of professional grade monitors, you should also look into the LaCie 21":

Have you played with one? What is the colour gammut like ... is it as good as the publicity blurb??
