Hi there, has anyone purchased housings from the above company (naturephoto Kanda) in Japan. We live in the UK and the Sea & Sea Housing is a whopping £500 dearer in the UK.

We would like to know (1) if anyone has purchased a housing from Japan or in particular from this company and (2) the housing in Japan costs around £750 (as opposed to £1200. How much duty are we likely to pay on goods worth £750 arriving in the UK??????????????

(3) can anyone foresee any problems with us buying from Japan.

Thanks in advance.

Lou

Hi Lou,

I can't help you with q's 2 and 3, but I have ordered several times from Yuzo Kanda at the website you mention. My experience has been that he is very reliable and honest.

If you are worried about ordering from Japan, you could also try one of this sites sponsors like Ryan at reefphotovideo who is also very helpful. You might find he has the housing you are looking for too.

I would check with your customs authority regarding details on duty.

I know customs in aus have all those details on their website.

Lou,
I brought my housing from Yuzo at naturephoto. He is excellent, really helpfull. I nearly imported from him to the UK but called it off. I'm now in Oz and just imported a 350D housing.
You will need to add VAT to Yuzo's price and i think (don't quote me) that import duty was 5% on top of that. Then add your postage, you'll probably still save a packet. This is the worst case scenario if customs look at the package, if not then you can forget the vat and duty.
I would budget on paying the tax though.

Your only issue will be that any waranty work will have to be done in Japan so you will have to send it back to Naturephoto.
I'd go for it!

just another thought, are all the ports compatible. I dont want to buy my housing from them and not be able to buy any ports in the UK at a later date.
