Ikelite has the replaced the DS-125 NiCad Battery Packs w/ NIMH Batteries in all new strobes, which yield an extra 100 full power flashes per charge... Way to go Ikelite!
The new batteries are the same price, but have a different part number (#4066.5).
Only the new wall wart style smart charger sold in the last year can be used w/ these batteries.

Does that mean that all new flashes ordered will come supplied with the new battery & charger, or is there a transition period where the new battery has to be requested?

As of July 5 all orders shipped from Ikelite have the NIMH Batteries. From there, it depends on dealer stock. We are sold out of the Nicads now, only shipping NIMH.

No. But you can buy new battery packs inexpensively enough.

You sure, Ryan? I've gotten new batteries put in my packs by ike, hard to believe that you couldn't ask for nimh instead of nicad.
