Sarah and I photographed the Planet Funk dance troupe's directors this weekend. It was incredibly fun - and very difficult (as we had to work in the director's small lap pool). Thanks to Ryan at Reef Photo for letting us keep his rental housing for a few extra days so that Sarah could use it - she nailed some insane shots.

The setup for this shoot used two on-camera Ike strobes and some of the shots used 2 Ike SS400's outside the pool on the edges. We mostly used these during the day for shadow fill and they worked great. Wish I had some pictures of our setup but we were just too busy shooting.

Nice pics. Looks like fun; must have been even tougher being constrained by such a narrow pool.

Thanks guys - yep, the pool really was that thin - it's supposed to be just for lap swimming I guess. It could have been cleaner too but meh - it was convenient and belonged to the client.

This is perhaps my favorite photo from the shoot, although it's hard to pick one:



She was the lead in Planet Funk's "Electric Light Circus" which I photographed a couple of weeks ago:

So are you from Texas? Perhaps you know a friend named Tim Clark that lives in Hawaii (used to be Kona, but now on Oahu). He moved out there after graduating from A&M in 2000. He's better known as "the manta guy." LOL

James - Yes, of course I know Tim Clark - Hard not to with all the stuff he's done out here. I've just met him a couple times. Last time I spoke with him he was over writing all his stuff up at HIMB on Oahu.

I'm not from Texas - originally from St.Louis, MO - just went to college at SMU and was a financial planner in Dallas for a few years after school, before dropping it all and moving out here to Hawaii in 1999 to fullfill my dream of a surf/beach/dive bum.
