I would repeat what I said in another thread. Nikon has just introduced the 105mm VR, and at the same time discontinued the 5T and 6T dioptres that specifically fit this lens. It seems a fair assumption that their reason for discontinuing them is to sell off their remaining stock before introducing a newly designed close-up dioptre range specific for this new lens.

I bought a 62-52mm step down ring for the 105mm vr and now use the old 4T diopter with this lens. It works great. No need to pay huge inflated ebay prices for the 6T diopter. The optical surface on the 105mm VR is the same size as the old 105mm so the smaller diopter does not vigenette.

This is also useful if you want to use the 50mm or 24mm lenses in reverse mount on this lens. Using a step down ring does not vigenette with thee lenses either.

I tend to suspect that Alex is right about the new diopter. It seems incredibly idiotic that Nikon would discontinue this just as they release the new macro lens with 62mm threads. Bijorn Rostteler claims that for perfect optical performance this lens sould be reverse mounted on Macro lenses. Perhaps the new version will be oriented the right way for macro shooting.

i already own a heliopan +3 and a subal +4 62mm.

so no problems here, just the +1,5 would be nice because its not limiting you so much...
