Basking sharks, which are normally only seen in British waters between
May and July, have been seen off south Devon.

Indeed they have!

We had a very excited young girl on the telephone to us this afternoon; she is our niece and is staying in our holiday home in Devon with her parents. Today they were at Burgh Island in Bigbury Bay, where people were pointing out to sea at what turned out to be a basking shark. Selena was sooooooo impressed to have seen a 'real' shark (I think she views my pics with some disbelief!) and announced to me that 'she won't be scared again if she meets one when she's swimming'........!
