Hello members!

Hang in there re: recent Wetpixel slowness. We had a few weeks of smoother operation but the server is being hit hard as more and more people come check us out. This coming January, we're upgrading both the server hardware and software the board runs on, which should help out a lot.

Personally, I use the site mostly from California and load times are almost always just fine.

The page runs a trace from wetpixel to the browser, which is more meaningful than from the reader to wetpixel. This is because there is much more traffic going from wetpixel to the reader than the other way around, and internet is often routed asymmetrically.

Hello, readers. I just made some changes that I believe have made the site much faster. Please let me know!

Note that many images are now hosted on a second machine. It will take time to load them the first time, but because there are a limited number of images, once your browser caches them all the site should be very fast.

definitely better from the south of france as well, though my work connection is still weird. it's fine for the first 2 threads and then slows down again, not as bad as before though... (i tried iexplore 6.x and firefox (1.x and 2.0)

The formus are still very fast for me. 1.5-2.2 second load times.

I just updated the first post in this thread with a new script that Cor wrote. It will help us better figure out why Wetpixel is slow for some folks and not others.

Hey guys. Cor has made a couple more changes to Wetpixel that should result in faster page loads. Have you folks way out there felt any improvements lately?

No noticable change but it was not slow for me in first place.

Not changes lately. Did get faster last month, although still a little slower than other sites from here.

The changes I made are pretty minor. For me a page loads in about 5-6 seconds now. That used to be 7-8 seconds before my changes. Barely noticeable unless you're looking for it like i am. Most sites I use daily are comparable in speed to wetpixel for me.

People that consistently get pageloads longer than about 15 seconds could help by installing the firefox plugin 'Firebug' and use the 'Net' tab to see where the majority of the time is spent.

For me WetPixel loads almost 2X as fast as it used to. (Used to take 9 or more seconds in Safari a couple of months ago and now it takes about 5 seconds to load consistently).

Very manageable!
