I'm planning a trip to the Red Sea, and looking for advice.

What time of year is best for the white tips? How reliable are sightings? Any suggested areas or operations?

TIA!,

They tend to follow ships that throw their garbage over the side. In that way they can be attracted to aggregations of dive boats and the noises of divers splashing into the water. Good places to see them are sites close to sea lanes such as the Brother Islands, Daedelus and the Elphinstone. Remember they tend to swim close to the surface so always keep an eye peeled upwards when diving in these places.

I buy my own photographic kit. Diving equipment manufacturers and diving services suppliers get even-handed treatment from me whether they choose to advertise in the publications I write for or not. All the equipment I get on loan is returned as soon as it is finished with. Did you know you can now get Diver Mag as an iPad/Android app?

Echo what John said. We had a lot of time with three at Elphinstone in January last year.

As a bonus we were the only boat on the Brothers and Daedelus also.

So good we are returning in January this year.

october-november in the south (Brothers etc...) is when you have better opportunity. But is also a time of the year with rougher seas...
