Can anyone tell me if the Nikkor 105 VR micro lens will fit in to a Sea&Sea housing using the standard NX flat port (the rubber bumpered version).
Previous posts mention how fat this lens, sometimes too fat to fit.
If it does fit, what extention ring is needed. The old 105 lens needed a 40mm ring.

There is a bump at the front of the port that needs to be dremeled down, or the port will push the lens off center. SX Extension Ring is the best choice.

You use the Nikkor 105 VR like your old one.

Standard Flat Port and extension ring 40.

S&S does have newer DX port and focus gear that were just made for the 105VR.

I shoot the 105VR in a Sea & Sea housing and use the standard NX flat port and the 40mm ext ring. With the 40 mm ring you won't need to remove the nub in the port and there's plenty of room for screw on diopters. I use a nikon 4T with a step down ring.

I had not considered that strange bump on the inside front of the port fouling the lens. I thought there might be a problem with the zoom spocket on the housing getting too close to a particularly fat lens. Presumably this is not an issue.
Interesting that a 4T (52mm) dioptre fits on the VR lens 62mm thread via a step down ring - presunmably with no vignetting.
