Local authourities here are saying its a non event. Saying it could still be headed the other way across the Pacific though.
The water rise was only 15cm in Honiara. There are some reports of property damage in Gizo though

I have heard conflicting news about Honiara and vicinity; some say there have been waves several meters high. There are reports of several villages flooded and four people reported missing. Communication has been cut off from the Gizo area. I hope everyone is safe. However, it's those areas that are distant and in the path we shall have our fingers crossed for.

We have just heard from Kerry at Dive Gizo that they are all OK. Danny had about a metre of water go through the shop, but most things survived and the compressor is still working!
Apparently there are some properties more seriously damaged, and the ground is still shaking. They confirmed there was a lot of damage in nearby Simbo.
Fingers crossed for sure.

Sad about the damage but maybe it will clean up the corrupt/messed up Solomons Government as well.

New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sending diplomats to the Solomon Islands to check on five New Zealanders who are still missing after yesterday's tsunami.
The Ministry says there are particular concerns for a marine biologist who was onboard a research vessel at sea at the time the tsunami struck.
