Poked around the boards and on the 'net to find info on what people seem to find reliable. In the past had issues with some SmartMedia Cards for another old camera I had (cursed a few times beneath the waves as they failed during a dive.)

I was about to pick up a few more Compact Flash Cards for upcoming trips and so far have had good luck with Lexar and my Kingston cards which I have used with some older cameras and which I have now been using in a Canon 30D.

Was about to buy some more cards I figured what better place to raise this topic then here :)

My main concern is reliability as oppossed to speed of the card. If you find certain sizes of cards more stable, that would be interesting to hear about. (I am looking at 2 Gig+ Cards since a 2 Gig Card will hold about 150 Pictures give or take which is more than enough to carry me through a few dives and I am usually diving in situations where I can switch things out every couple of dives)

Thanks!

I've been using the Ritek/Ridata Pro 150X 8GB card in my 5D for more than a year. Absolutely no complaints.

Sandisk Extreme III 4GB and 2GB for 2 years no problems. Had a problem with Lexars with the 1D2 but that's been settled by firmware.

I use Sandisk Extreme II cards.
I have a 2gb and two 1gb cards.
The 1gb card was replaced FOC by Sandisk after a small problem but apart from that I have complete confidence in the product...

Sandisk Extreme, Extreme II, III & IV's 2GB & 4GB models and no problems whatsoever. The only card I ever had problems with was a 1GB IBM Microdrive and I don't think they make those anymore.

SanDisk Extreme 4 CF 8GB is the best; along with their fast reader!!! You can shoot on motor-drive and not worry about a thing and it uploads way fast with their reader!

I had two (yes two) Lexar 133X 4GB CF cards I bought from an underwater camera store in California. They were both defective from the get-go and corrupted a number of my images before I isolated that it wasn't my computer, camera, etc. Lexar replaced the cards but took about three weeks to do it and in the meantime I was shooting and had to buy a CF card to hold me. I went with SanDisk on Eric Cheng's advice (he also lost images with Lexar CF card compatibility problem on his Canon 1DX). The Lexar cards I used were compatible with the Nikon d200 they were just both bad (and expensive)!

I'm very happy with the SanDisks and don't use the Lexars much, I have too many CF cards now I think.....

Hope this helps, Carol

Thanks for the info acroporas, Drew, bruceterrill, Undertow, e=me,seagrant

Looks like SanDisk Extremes and a reader are on the near horizon and I may also grab a Ritek just in case.

Doing some online shopping now to get the 30D geared up :)
