I played with a bunch of squid at Molokini crater tonight, and have over a hundred squid photos that I like, even after pruning the ones that were "bad." Here's one of 'em. The raw file is available here:





1/125s, f13. Resized and sharpened. No color correction. D60 with UK Germany housing, Canon 50/2.5 compact macro. 100mm macro port (there is some extra air-space), 2 Ikelite DS125 strobes on 1/4th power, with diffuser.

And, a 600x400 pixel crop of the center of the image (straight out of the camera):



I am very, very impressed by this camera.

The only place I've gotten wet with squid was Bonaire, had a nice long encounter with them there.

The butterfly fish in the schooling fish picture is the pennant butterfly, sometimes confused with the Moorish idols, which also live in Hawaii. A pdf of the Hawaiian reef fish ID card can be found at:
