Which Aquatica macro port is best for the new Nikkor 60mm? The old port is acrylic (18426) and allows manual focus but there is a new glass port (18428) which is autofocus only.
Thanks

If it was me, I'd go with the new compact port. I have the old port but I don't even know were I put my focus gears. If I need to manual focus for some reason, I prefocus on something else, set the MSC switch to manual and then focus by moving closer or farther away from the subject. I'm all for being as compact as possible the way things are today with the airlines.
I'm thinking of getting the new compact macro port and 6" dome myself.

If you have no intention of using manual focus, then the 18428. If all you shoot is the 60mm for macro, then I doubt you would need to do much manual focusing. If you get the manual focus version, it's not much use without a focus gear, so it would be one more thing to buy.
It's a really good question, though. With an AF-S 105 lens, then manual focus capability might be a real plus. I'll tell you about that in about a month.

Check with Aquatica as I have a #18426 macro port with a glass lens.

I've had some useful feedback from Mauricio Handler:
"There are three ports-
The standard Macro Plexi (no longer available)
"" "" "" Glass (manual focus and available) #18426
Macro Port AF only, no manual focus possible #18428
I would get the glass with manual focus so you can also use it later with the 105 macro."
I guess it depends on how useful/essental manual focus will be. I've managed to use a Sigma 105mm in autofocus mode with a D200 but at maximum focus it is very difficult but it I guess it might be even worse to try and manual focus. It's bad enough with a tripod on land!

I use manual focussing approximately 50% of the time and about 100% of the time on night dives and when going in for 1:1 type shots as I dont want the autofocus hunting around. I dont have the 60mm, so this experience is only with the 105mm.
