Hi From Scotland

I am based in sunny (well sometimes) Scotland so most of my diving and underwater photography is cold water. But since Scotland has some of the best cold water diving, that's just fine. Looking forward to contributing to the excellent discussions on this group.

I've only been to Scotland once, and to be honest ... when I looked out over the Firth or Fourth, the last thing on my mind was scuba!

I will defend Scotland - even though I am as far south as you can get in the UK (Channel Islands) - It does not always rain in the summer - and when it is dry and fine it is a gorgeous land where the mozzies (B52 size) will eat you alive

P.S welcome......
I beg to differ...
The Channel Islands are not really part of the UK - They are British Crown Dependencies, but neither is part of the United Kingdom. Exactly like Bermuda, The Caymans, Turks and Caicos, St Helena, and The Falklands.
If you want to include the British Crown Dependencies as part of the UK, then The Falklands counts as the most southerly part of the UK
...Sorry
PS - Welcome Elaine, this forum is full of good natured bickering. Enjoy the party.

The Channel Islands are indeed Crown Dependencies - as is the Isle of Man - but the Caymans, Bermuda, etc are Overseas Territories and not Crown Dependencies.

Well, then ... since you started it, I'll be to differ with you ... :-)

Paul, the Channel Islands, like Scotland, are a long way from SE England (Gatwick to you), aren't they? (...and I don't mean geographically!)

I buy my own photographic kit. Diving equipment manufacturers and diving services suppliers get even-handed treatment from me whether they choose to advertise in the publications I write for or not. All the equipment I get on loan is returned as soon as it is finished with. Did you know you can now get Diver Mag as an iPad/Android app?

I figure that if we struck oil your lot would invade in no time flat! That is, if you can find enough squaddies to take over the car ferry on a wet Monday morning.
Anyhow, there is an application to drill for oil in the car park of PC World by our office in Waterlooville, so maybe Gordon is eyeing up the south of England before us....
Vis here has been awful since Christmas so I figure the diving is better up north at the moment, maybe we should all head up there?

I grew up in northern Michigan so I am not afraid of cold water or bad weather.
Life is a beach and then you dive.
