I've been a member for a few months now, so I figured it was about time I introduced myself:
I'm from NYC and I go to school at Indiana University, where I'm a research assistant for the Office of Underwater Science. I went diving for the first time when I was 12, and now I'll be a divemaster once all the paperwork pushes its way through. I've always loved photography (and sometimes get to take it underwater!), and I'm discovering a passion for underwater videography.
I'm heading out to a semester at James Cook Uni. in QLD, Australia in 9 days (and counting), so if you've got any favorite dive sites around there, send them my way!
Take at look at IU's research in the Dominican Republic:
And if you want, have a look at my flickr page:

Welcome, you've come to the right place to learn. I'm sure our Australian friends can help you out. If you don't get any help in a couple of days you might try reposting again and put your request in the title of the post. Not everyone reads every post. Good luck in OZ!

... you'll have a blast up in QLD .. great part of the world.
Had a look at your flickr page, you take some great photos .. I see you just got a new D300 ... sure you will have a great time down under with that !
PS .. exactly what Steve said about making another post re your QLD questions .. there are loads of people with loads of knowledge of the area, if you put a post in Dive Destinations & Travel with a nice specific title you will probably get more info than you needed.

I'll have a look at the travel section and put up a thread there.
