I'm nowhere near professional, so I don't need a pro setup.
Recently purchased a digital land camera - Canon Powershot A20 - that just happens to have a waterproof housing!! I am very happy with the results I have been getting, but would like to add a strobe to the package.
I have borrowed a friend's Bonica neon strobe and used it once - good results.
Now, here's the question --- should I just get a Bonica neon strobe (goes with a Bonica Snapper setup) or should I fork out twice the price for an Ikelite DS-50?
The Canon does not have TTL availablity - the strobe will have to provide flash automation, like the Ikelite DS-50 - so please don't suggest Nikonos.
If there is another strobe out there that I should be looking at, please let me know.
Thanks,
Kim

What about the Epoque Strobes like the Epoque ES150DSF or the Sea & Sea YS-25DX.
They are small and not too expensive and there are trays (Sea & Sea and Epoque) and fiberoptic connection cables that should fit to your housing and camera.

Ikelites are the only strobes that will do true TTL, with the G2, (or with any other camera that uses a pre-flash).
The epoque's and sea and sea are not TTL, when used with these cameras.
I'm using an Ikelite ds50, with the canon G2, and it is working great.
Good luck.
