Several underwater photographers in the Seattle area were lamenting the fact that there was not group in the Pacific Northwest to share resources, help each other resolve technical issues, and generally support each other in our efforts to become better photographers. The Vancouver, BC society had a lot of great information, but unfortunately has become inactive.
We had an initial gathering in September in Everett, and and the concensus was to try and get a group going in the Puget Sound area. Follow-up meetings have been scheduled for Saturday, October 25, Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, December 7 (when the tides are ugly for diving). Upcoming topics include subjects like color correction, workflow, including discussions of LightRoom version 2 and PhotoMechanic, eliminating back scatter by better strobe positioning and post processing.
At present there is a pretty even balance between point and shoot and DSLR cameras. If you are interested in learning more about this group, please feel free to drop me a note. There is currently a Yahoo group set up at: http://tech.groups.y...m/group/PNWUPS/. You can joing this group to receive meeting notices and agendas, and receive information about the web site that should be up and running by December.
We hope you will help in our efforts to promote underwater photography, and the outstanding underwater photographers of the Pacific Northwest.
