If you get Popular Photography magazine, check out page 22 in the December issue. They picked one of my Philippines photos for the 2nd Place "Your Best Shot." I got $200 for it, but I'll probably spend most of that buying extra copies for my family and friends. :)

My subscription copy came Friday, and I imagine they'll be on the newsstands soon.

For copyright reasons, I can't show a scanned image of the page, but here is the photo:

I think they eventually put these online, but I don't know how long that takes.

Hi Jim,
Well done! I just picked up a copy of the mag today in LAX to read on a flight. I saw your picture and yelled out a big Whoo Hoo! in the waiting area. My wife thought I had lost it (again).
Congrats partner!

Be careful, Steve. My wife knows I've lost it for sure, but there may still be hope for you. Posted Image

Thanks, folks! In answer to the question: yes, I use a single Nikon SB800 in its own Subal strobe housing. The iTTL works pretty well and the strobe has plenty of power, although I have to be very careful with strobe placement.

G'day, Bruce! I'm still recuperating from the surgery, slowly but surely. I think I'll be fit for diving in a few more months.

G'day to you too JimmyC, . . . . :)

I always study your pictures 'very' carefully, ( just to see that they haven't been stolen. . . :D Nah, Just kidding. . . :) ) your lighting always seems to be spot on.
If you look at the current pic you will definately see shadowing but it is understated and natural, certainly not sharp or over bearing. An old craftsman chooses his tools wisely and then learns how to use them. The SB800 is a very capable tool in the right hands, and it seems as if you have a pair of those hands JimmyC.

Hooroo JimmyC, your a bonza bloke,

Bruce...
