The San Diego Underwater Photographic Society (SDUPS) is proud to announce that its 40th Film Festival will be held in San Diego, CA at Qualcomm Hall on April 25, 2009.

In celebration of this, SDUPS 40th Film Festival, SDUPS has expanded the film festival program to include: a) a Matinee Show featuring films from SDUPS members, b) a reception honoring many of San Diego underwater pioneers, c) a headliner film from Steve Drogin shot utilizing his DeepSee submarine, and d) a worldwide film contest that includes a $500 first place prize.

Qualcomm Hall is the perfect venue for this event. Comfortably seating 500 people the hall features a state-of-the-art high definition projection system to complement the outstanding content that will be presented.

Great news Brett, thanks for the update.

OK boys and girls mark your calendars. If you live in LA, Phoenix or Tucson it's definitely worth the drive. It's a wonderful venue with a huge state of the art screen. We went to the SDUFX show there last Sept for the first time and those folks really know how to put on a great event. The only important question left is where will the Wetpixel after party be?

Just one word of clarification: SDUFEX is not affiliated with SDUPS. Both are local San Diego organizations dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of underwater imaging. Both are incorporated non-profits. UPS is dedicated primarily to still photography, although it has a steadily growing video component. UFEX is dedicated solely to video.

I'm sure the 40th anniversary UPS show in April will be an outstanding affair and well worth attending. As an alumnus, I wish them well.
