I flew back to the UK yesterday, from photographing seahorses in the S. of France, to attend the award ceremony of the
BWPA in London, where I was fortunate to win the "Coast and Marine" category with this portrait of a grey seal lounging in seaweeds. This is a competition aimed at celebrating the wildlife found in the UK, so most of the entries were from British photographers. I was pleased to do well in this competition and see my photo alongside many of the UK's best wildlife photographers, particularly because I am relatively new to diving in the UK.
Settings:
Nikon D700, Subal housing, Sigma 15mm FE, 2x Inon Z240 strobes. 1/160th @ f/13, ISO 800.
Other underwater photographers featured in the exhibition are Mark Thomas and Jane Morgan, and I also have a close up portrait of a tompot blenny featured too.

For those in the UK, a selection of the winning images are in many of today's newspapers (e.g.
Times (not permanent link),
Mail).
