I have , finaly found a Ikelite Underwater housing for my Polaroid camera.
Now dont ask why polaroids :-)
Is there anyone that know this housing. As i see in the picture there is a connection that looks like its a strobe connection, if yes, is it posible to connect
"modern" Strobes trough a adapter?

Lambis, I like you, you are so weird yes it is a strobe connectors and no there are no way to connect a modern strobe to it, but... if it is a 1/2" hole as I presume it to be, then you can replace it with either a Ikelite bulkhead connector or any Nikonos type that is designed for 1/2" size, My SX70 have electronic flashes so I presume that a modern electronic strobe once connected would trigger and sync correctly, you would need to resolder the terminal to the new type connector, shouldn't be that hard, being only ground and sync, its not like you will get TTL failure or something dramatic

I love polas and i really have a small project going one to use those Underwater.

The original SX-70 exposure control is based on the focused distance. The original flashbars that they have been used with the SX70's equals a guide number of 75 / 125 ASA or a leitzahl of 25 so any flash that have this power works perfect with the SX70 off course overwater i am talking.

So now i am curious if i can do something to create a housing that works underwater to and especially find a strobe that is so strong

I can to modify a SX-70 so its shoot always in F8 indepented on the focused Distance so i can get the most out of a light.

Otherwise.. available light shoots would do but this would be cool to use some extra light power underwater for some pool photos.

P.S. I have off course asked Ikelite about some info as this is theres housing but they anwered that they have no idea ... sad sad...

Finaly the housing have arrived. locks good but hard to se the finder..

About the strobe issues.. I have scan and add the manual that Ikelite had with the housing if somebody is curious to read...

When I was a kid I desperately wanted an SX-70 and that housing. I didn't even know how to dive.

Thats more or les the same hier Dave. Sometimes we need to just let the child in us get free for a lite time. I just need, I must, take this housing underwater and shoot some polaroids .

I will TEST some new Polaroid films soon and it would be intresand to see how its comming out with a strobe to.
My main Problem is that i am not that good in technic and i dont know how i do to modify the housing to take underwater strobes.
There is a bulkhead that is a 2 pin. so any manual strobe that in some way i can connect to this bulkhead will work.
I need just to trigger the camera. Maybe somewhere there is a adapter for a sync cable.

The other issue is that the camera works with strobes that have a guide number of ca 75 / 125 ASA But i think that with manual control of the strobe and Over Underexpose the Camera I can after some test find the sweet point.

As its look lite the connector is a Ikelite ICS2 wet connector. So i need a sync cable as follow that connect to any manual strobe. Any idea ith those sync cables are still available?

It says it has a one year warranty. Is the year up yet?

Call Ikelite to see if they could put in a modern manual strobe synch socket.

Back and still analogue

Have tested my polaroid Sx70 housing now, before summer comes, and everything is just fine but there is a issue
with the finder. Is so hard to see and manual focus trough the Plexiglas to the finder so i was curious if its possible to add a Nauticam or Inon Viewfinder, or some of those inexpensive uw Camera Video Monitors
Any ideas and suggestions?
