I recently had this image published in the Basque language Elhuyar science and technology magazine:

Posted Image

I'd really like to know what the accompanying text for the image says:

Flasha

Bizkarroia mihi

Mihi bitxia du arrain honek; bi begi eta ahoa dituen mihia. Izan ere, krustazeo bat dauka mihiaren lekuan: Cymothoa exigua isopodoa.

Krustazeo isopodoen artean hainbat dira bizkarroi-estrategia hartu dutanek, baina C. exigua da, agian, bitxiena. Zakatzetatik sartu eta arrainaren mihiari heltzen dio; eta haren odoletik edaten hasten da. Mihia elikatu behar lukeen odolak bizkarroia elikatzen du, eta, mihia, elikagairik gabe, atrofiatu egiten da, ia desagertu arte. Bizkarroia mihiaren oinarriko muskuluari helduta gelditzen da, ordezko mihi bihurturik.

Kanpotik etorritako mihi berriak, aurrekoak betezen zuen funtzio bera betetzen du. Eta, itxuraz, ez dio bestelako kalterik eragiten arrainari.

Anyone able to help out with a translation?

A member of the spanish dive/UWP www.forobuceo.com translated to Spanish and then I wrote it in English:

Mihi bitxia du arrain honek; bi begi eta ahoa dituen mihia. Izan ere, krustazeo bat dauka mihiaren lekuan: Cymothoa exigua isopodoa.
This fish has a strange tongue; that tongue has two eyes and a mouth. In fact, it has crustacean instead of a tongue: the isopod Cymothoa exigua.

Krustazeo isopodoen artean hainbat dira bizkarroi-estrategia hartu dutanek, baina C. exigua da, agian, bitxiena.
Parasiting is a common strategy among isopods, but Cymothoa exigua is maybe the most curious one.

Zakatzetatik sartu eta arrainaren mihiari heltzen dio; eta haren odoletik edaten hasten da. Mihia elikatu behar lukeen odolak bizkarroia elikatzen du, eta, mihia, elikagairik gabe, atrofiatu egiten da, ia desagertu arte.
It enters the fish through the gills, gets to the tongue, and starts to suck its blood. The blood that should feed the tongue feeds the parasite instead, and the tongue is atrophied until it disappears.

Bizkarroia mihiaren oinarriko muskuluari helduta gelditzen da, ordezko mihi bihurturik.
The parasite then stays fixed to the fundamental tongue´s muscle, becoming a tongue´s substitute.

Kanpotik etorritako mihi berriak, aurrekoak betezen zuen funtzio bera betetzen du. Eta, itxuraz, ez dio bestelako kalterik eragiten arrainari.
The new expat tongue accomplishes the same functions as the original and, it seems, does not harm the fish in any way
