Join Eric Cheng and Wetpixel aboard the Damai II in Indonesia this coming Oct/Nov 2011! We'll be diving Komodo, Flores, Alor, Beangabang, Adonara, and Wetar. With only 4 singles and 2 suites, the Damai II is one of the most comfortable live-aboard dive vessels in Indonesia.

We'll start in Flores and make our way to Beangabang, one of our favorite muck sites in the world. When we've had enough muck, we'll head to Komodo for more strange critters combined with incredibly-lush reefs. Unlike normal trips, which are on a fixed schedule, we plan to sit on the best sites until we get tired of them.

We've split the trip into 2 legs to accommodate a couple guests who only want to do half of the trip. 1-2 spots remain!

DATES AND DESTINATIONS

Trip 1: BEANGABANG, FLORES, ALOR, ADONARA, WETAR (Maumere - Maumere)
Oct 26 - Nov 6, 2011 (12 days)
$4,985 + airfare

After a successful trip to Beangabang in April of 2009, we're going back! Beangabang features a sandy slope with algae growth in the shallows, but it happens to be an incredible area for mucky critters like mimics, wunderpus (and other octopi), bobbit worms, bobtail squid, snake eels, slugs, and more. We'll probably spend 3 full days at Beangabang, followed by time in the surrounding islands. The weather is supposed to be ideal at this time of year, which means that we should have flat seas.

We'll be photographing primarily muck and macro critters, but we'll also be around some incredible coral gardens.

Trip 2: KOMODO (Labuanbajo - Maumere)
Nov 6 - Nov 20, 2011 (15 days)
$6,285 + airfare

What is there to say about Komodo? It is awesome—incredible critters, plus lush reefs. Hopefully, we'll also get to go on land and play with dragons.

Although we're planning 2 separate trips, we hope that most guests will book both trips so we are free to take advantage of the full 26 days to explore the greater area.

BOOKING

As always, Dan Baldocchi will be taking bookings. You can reach him by emailing wetpixel@underexposures.com, or by calling +1-773-564-9579.

Each of the trips dive totally different sites—they go to different areas of Indonesia...

Thought those on this trip would appreciate pictures of the actual boat you'll be on. I just visited the boat before it went on its inaugural trip, fresh out of Benoa harbor. Hard rocker Gary Bevan is the cruise director. Please note the boat wasn't ready for inspection so it's not what it should be when fully prepared!
