Premeeting Seminar (7:00PM 7:30PM): Mocktails hosted by ReefID

SPECIAL MEETING START TIME: 7:30 PM
FEATURED PRESENTERS (7:30 PM 9:15PM):

Steve Rosenberg Presents - A Double Feature: Wild Wakatobi and Kasawari-Lembeh

Come join Steve as he shares his images of Wakatobi, a fabulous Indonesian dive destination. The photos Steve will share in his Wild Wakatobi presentation are a compilation of images taken over the past year and a half, approximately 16 days of diving, some highlights from Bali, shots of the Wakatobi resort, house reef and dive sites accessible from day boat dives. The show will also include live-aboard diving on the Pelagian.

Wakatobi is a five star resort, with a successful program focused on improving the health of the reefs.

Steve and Shannon Rosenberg (Steve's daughter) will also share a short show on Kasawari-Lembeh. Kasawari-Lembeh is a small boutique resort (20 persons) located on the mainland side of the famed Lembeh Straits, one of the muck diving capitals of the world, where the weird and wonderful creatures abound. The show will highlight some of the critter interactions, including the wonderpus, bobbit worms, coconut octopuses, hairy frogfish, mandarinfish, mantis shrimp, boxer crabs, etc.

About Steve Rosenberg:
Steve has been a professional underwater photographer and photojournalist since 1980, and is an active member of the Society of American Travel Writers SATW. He has produced eight travel guides for dive destinations and has written hundreds articles for various U.S. publications. Thousands of his images have appeared in books, magazines and posters, as well as on stamps, advertising and artwork worldwide. He has also won more than 250 awards for his photography in international competitions. His diving experience in the Galapagos Islands spans the past ten years.

About Shannon Rosenberg:
Shannon Rosenberg was the first place novice winner of the 2010 California Beach and Boat Dive Underwater Photo/Video Competition. Shannon and her dad will share the progression from her winning at the competition, choosing the prize to Kasawari and their diving experiences at the Kasawari Lembeh resort.

John Fifer Presents - ReefID

John will share how ReefID and Steven Rosenberg are working together and how NCUPS members can also get involved. http://www.reefid.org

John Fifer is founder of ReefID. The ReefID website was just featured on the Underwater Photography Guide website. ReefID has been up to some pretty exciting things, including demonstrating Sealife cameras for beginning photographers in Cozumel and putting cameras in their hands to learn and use. ReefID will be leading underwater photo seminars at various resorts, including Garden of Eden in the Philippines this coming Spring.

The ReefID website is in full launch, so now is the perfect time for NCUPS members to participate. The site is intended for photographers of all experience to contribute images to and for all divers to use to identify critters.

About John Fifer:
John Fifer is the founder of ReefID. In July 2010, ReefID began collecting digital images from both professional and amateur underwater photographers in an effort to create the largest online, user-friendly database of our ocean inhabitants available to date. ReefID plans to move aquatic identification into the digital age by replacing the need to work through countless pages in multiple ID books to figure out what you saw. Now, curious adventurers will be able to quickly identify their sightings from a computer or web enabled cell phone. It is ReefID's hope that by providing this tool along with a unique social environment, it will enhance everyone's ocean experiences and promote an increased awareness of our most treasured resource.
