I am running my popular photo workshops in Grand Cayman again in 2012.

Similar format as previous years, with the additional subject matter provided by the Kittiwake wreck.
Cost from $2245 USD. There are two workshop weeks available.
Week 1: 14th - 21st January 2012.
Theme: Understanding, controlling and exploiting light underwater.
Week 2: 21st- 28th January 2012.
Theme: Creative Lighting Techniques.

Week 1 is our classic workshop, although it evolves every year. Focused on wide angle photography we discuss the type of foreground lighting effects we want in our shots and practice how to get them on reef wide angles (and in the pool). Then we shoot available light, focusing on reading and understanding the light to produce a variety of effects, on subjects such as the Kittiwake and the stingrays. Then at the end of the week we combine the two, shooting wide angle with the foreground lighting and background atmosphere we want. This is only part of the week, of course. We deal with many creative techniques too, such as the popular spin shots. Plus we shoot macro, big creatures, such as rays, turtles and sharks and much more.
Week 2's theme is new this year and specially devised for those who have done the classic workshop in the past. The focus is on more creative photography, with extra cavern and wreck dives on the Kittiwake to work on off-camera strobes, and macro dives (including a night dive) to work on snooting, fibre-snooting and even fluorescence photography. And of course much more
The diving will be similar on each week, photographing on classic Cayman walls, the East End's atmospheric caverns, the unique Kittiwake wreck and some special big animal dives, including the dawn stingray experience. The main diving difference in the weeks is that week 2 will make four, instead of two dives on the Kittiwake, to allow more time for wreck internal photography. And Week 2 will have a night dive, instead of one of the day dives.
The workshop is a busy schedule, we work hard for our images, but each year the group produces an excellent selection. There is no competition element in the week, which everyone always says helps promote a friendly and sharing atmosphere. That said, many images taken on the workshop go on to win big prizes after the event, and two different Kittiwake images from this year's group have already been on magazine covers, in fact we already have had competition winners from the 2011 workshop! I hope that you can join me in Cayman.
There are currently spaces on both weeks.
