Shooting in the Coz current can try your patience, but there are some ops there.

Thanks! I didn't want that angle, but I was in a stiff current and it was all I could do to stay put long enough to get a focus lock.

Why killing the lionfish ?

They are not native to the area and as such have no natural predators.

Just google 'Cozumel Lionfish hunt'

Correct. The Cozumel divemasters have been given permission to destroy the fish even within the marine sanctuary. They are feeding them to other predators such as snappers, groupers, eels, and nurse sharks in the hopes that they will start taking live lionfish and naturally controlling the population.

There is also some commercial fishing for Lionfish now. They are delicious eating and are served in some Cozumel restaurants.
