A) Because you are interested in purchasing one
B) You have way too much free time on your hands

I went to a F65 hands on, presentation and screening a few weeks ago. During the powerpoint presentation they made great pains to emphasise that it was a true 4k sensor inside the F65 and while they didn't mention any names it was clear that they didn't consider other 4k+ sensors to be 4k or anywhere near that at all. Looks like they've now changed their speel to suggest that their sensor is now in fact 8k!! Oh what tangled webs we weave.....
Simon, it was advertised at 8k all the way back to Sep. Perhaps the guys doing the presentation didn't follow the book? I know they usually have at least one guy who knows everything at these shows but sometimes they screw up.
I posted this for the exciting news of 8k output in the next gen, which only Dalsa had the market so far.
I've been watching people do post on a 4k fim shot on a F65. The raw is gorgeous. The reason why Sony poopoos the other 4k is because of debayering which loses about 1/4-1/3 of resolution (depending on whom you ask!). WIth a 8k sensor, the resolution is more like 6k, which is still higher output than Epic et al.
Plus it shots uncompressed RAW on 1TB SRmem card and is $65k, which is not too far off from a fully outfitted Epic or Alexa.

I thought the price was closer to $115K

Must be the size that made you think it cost more!
Sony did get very aggressive with price. It probably was due to Alexa and Red. It's fantastic! Soon a full 4k package with 60+fps will be available in 1-2 years for under $50k, if the market can bear it!

I hope 3D dies mainly because of that.

Will it and a housing fit into a carry-on bag?
It's a private jet sort of camera

Sure, if you buy a seat for it.

Of course, I just saw the math on the "8k" claim and was thinking how does 20mp=8k? There is some marketing math here.
