Just Caught a newsflash about a tanker thats been stricken off of New Zealand and may start spewing oil... Anyone heard any more???

Is it the Rena that ran onto the reef in October and has now broken its back. Here and here

Yes, its the Rena which went aground on the Astrolabe reef back in October. There was an initial oil spill that caused a fair amount of offshore damage. Now the latest reports are that its breaking up and about to sink, along with hundreds of containers, and no real idea of what the further damage could be.

This is also a ecological disaster in Christmas Island, Aus, where the baby red crabs are returning from sea.
