I got into underwater photography to share the amazing things i found underwater. To this end i started a blog, and uploaded most of the photos i took, sharing where and what i saw. However, lately i have been doing a lot of exploring and diving areas that are usually hard to dive(or just aren't dived) because of swell and the lack of information on how to dive these areas safely. Sometimes what i find is delicate in nature, e.g abundance of poachable creatures, protected shipwreck relics etc and I'm struggling to decide whether to post the images of things that could be exploited if the information gets into the wrong hands.
On one hand i want to show the abundance of ecosystems that haven't been over-exploited, but on the other hand the act of revealing endangers these areas by exposing them to a greater population.
It's made me wonder if the internet is revealing too much of the world, and whether its best for some things to remain a mystery to the uninitiated. And what our role as photographers is in this process???
Thoughts???

I agree. Maybe give the general area's name for ID'ing purposes. But don't give the coordinates.
As far as a photographer's role in the process, capturing the general populations imagination is very important and I think overall a good thing. I find the art of nature much more compelling than the art of man and we should share it.
The internet can never reveal too much of the world because there will always be much more mystery in the universe when compared to that which is understood.
All of this is very simple and general, but keep posting, it can only do more good than harm.
