However just because a consumer palm camera shoots HD doesn't mean that it is a Sony F3. Same with 4k - there will be lots of different cameras all with varying quality. Very interesting times indeed!

I just had a thought which can be a dangerous thing. It's actually a lot closer to what Scarlet was supposed to be than Scarlet ended up being (apart from RAW that is) and due to the sensor size in many ways it will probably end up being a lot better for underwater shooting than the Scarlet X.

Not really as they are very different cameras. It's a bit like comparing HDV to DigiBeta. They both have the same resolution, but you wouldn't for a second say that the images were the same quality. I'm not saying that this isn't a great camera to buy as we have no idea until people start to get their hands on it, but apart from it being the same resolution it is not direct competition to RED in any way, shape or form.
Or is it??
