I'm headed to Bonaire at the end of the month. Any all around hints and tips? (photography, diving, ect).

This is a pretty common tip when you are shore diving in Bonaire:

Leave your truck unlocked and leave no valuables in there when you are diving.

Get a large water bottle and leave it in the back of the truck to use after the dive to rinse off with. Easily refilled after drinking the initial bottle.

Plan to focus on macro stuff. Visibility is usually good but not spectacular, limiting wide-angle scenic shots. You are unlikely to see many big animals (maybe a tarpon, eagle ray, or hawksbill here and there), but it is a macro wonderland. One site with unique opportunities is Salt Pier although you now are required to have a guide.

The other opportunity to consider is to hire a guide and do some dives on the "wild" east coast. Surf can be very rough and you really need some local knowledge, but the reefs are pristine.

The topside photography is pretty good, too, if you are interested in that. Lots of cool birds and lizards.

For topside options, there is a beach area where they rent kitesurfing equipment. Many there are really skilled. Can lead to some fun photography options as they fly across the water. Ask your resort for the location. Its a bit of a drive from town but near the salt processing area and salt piles. strong wind in that area so protect your camera from salt spray. You will likely need a cleaner solution for lens cleaning if you venture to that side of the island.
